Free Admission for Senior Citizens

Spring, TXKlein ISD offers free admission to Klein ISD athletic and theatrical events for residents who are 65 years of age or older through the Senior Gold Card program. Applications for a Gold Card may be made on the district website, www.kleinisd.net, by clicking on the “Senior Citizen Benefits” link in the green “Community” box on the homepage, or you can complete a form at the Klein ISD Central Office at 7200 Spring Cypress Road. Senior Gold Card holders may pick up their football tickets in advance at the Klein Athletic Administrative building or Klein Memorial Stadium on the day of a game. To obtain general admission theater tickets, call the theater department of the high school where the production is being staged.

Visitors of all ages are invited to learn more about these fascinating prehistoric animals from members of the Gulf Coast Turtle and Tortoise Society. View live specimens of native turtles and tortoises, and enjoy the interactive media included in the presentation.

 

Team Insectigators

Monday,
August 1 from 9 a.m. to noon

Visitors ages 12 and up are invited to join Team Insectigators to help survey and record insects and other arthropods in Jones Park: No collecting is permitted. Previous knowledge of entomology is not required and any person interested is encouraged to attend. Participants should wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and be prepared for varied habitats and weather.

 

Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, a Harris County Precinct 4 facility under the leadership of Commissioner Jerry Eversole, is located at 20634 Kenswick Drive in Humble. All programs are free of charge and open to the public. Harris County Precinct 4 programs serve people of all ages regardless of socioeconomic level, race, sex, religion, national origin or physical ability. For November we planning to honor our veterans. We invite you to submit a photo and short bio on your veteran(s). They will be featured on a page dedicated to those that serve. ExploreSpring supports our marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen that are currently serving and have served in the past.

Klein Oak High School Announces Annual Festival Returns to the Fall

Spring, TX –Due to Hurricane Ike, Klein Oak High School has rescheduled OAKFEST for Saturday November 15, 2008 from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm on school grounds. There will be food, area vendors, a carnival with booths sponsored by various clubs and student organizations, a silent auction, a cheer clinic and more. “

Proceeds from the event will be to support the prom fund for the Class of 2010. The goal of OAKFEST is to promote community involvement of the various organizations available at Klein Oak and develop a strong community in and around the area. In its first year to return to the Fall since 2002, the class of 2010 hopes to increase awareness of school activities and raise money for its senior prom simultaneously. more>>

College to Host Oct. 29 Free Showing of Critically-Acclaimed Film About the U.S. EconomyThere will be no “I.O.U.s” required for area residents who want to learn more about the growing, global economic crisis. On Wednesday, October 29, Lone Star College-Montgomery will host a free showing of the award-winning documentary “I.O.U.S.A,” which explores the many facets of the U.S. economy that relate to the ongoing downturn of both the U.S. and global economies.”

The 7 p.m. showing in the college’s Mainstage Theatre (Building D) will be followed by a panel discussion and question-answer session with two LSC-Montgomery professors. This critically-acclaimed documentary, which came out earlier this year, addresses the four key deficits in the American economy: budget, savings, trade, and leadership. Faith Chapel Assembly of God would like to invite the community to a fun-filled festival

Faith Chapel Assembly of God would like to invite the community to a fun-filled festival on September 27, 2008.  The Faith Chapel Festival is a fundraiser for Project Destiny, a ministry that helps women here in the U.S. and around the world (for more information, visit
http://www.stxagwm.org/projectdestiny.htm).  Starting at 9:00 a.m., there will be a yard sale, crafts for sale including fleece blankets with pillows, handmade jewelry, and gift baskets, a delicious bake sale as well as concessions and fun games for the kids!  There will also be a team horseshoe tournament, single elimination, $10 per team.  Please join us at 5824 Louetta Road in Spring.  We’re the church in the trees and we’ll be there til 1:00 p.m.!
