Each athlete is treated as an equal and plays in every game.
At the South Montgomery County YMCA, every child is a winner, is treated as an equal and plays in every game. There are no bench
warmers. This is what makes Y Youth Sports so unique and special. We are so much more than how many points are scored or who is winning the game.
The Y Youth Sports Program encourages and promotes healthy and strong kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team building as well as individual development, a positive self image and a sense of fair play & mutual respect for others. Caring adult coaches and volunteers create an asset rich environment in which children learn and practice the core values of responsibility, honesty, respect, caring and faith. YMCA Youth Sports programs are a great start to a lifetime of fitness and values.
Registrations are underway for the fall sports season. The sports to be offered include Soccer for ages 3 – 11, Baseball for ages 6 – 11, T-Ball
for ages 3 – 5, Volleyball for ages 6 – 13 years, Tiny Tot Basketball for ages 3 – 4, Basketball for ages 5 – 13, NFL Flag Football for ages 5 – 13, and
Cheerleading for ages 6 – 12. (Age eligibility as of 09-01-11). Registration deadline is August 28 with the season scheduled to begin early September. Most games are played on Saturdays.
The YMCA is a not-for-profit, volunteer based charitable organization. We strongly encourage parents to be more than spectators by getting involved as volunteer coaches, team parents and officials as well as being your child’s biggest fan. All volunteer coaches are required to be certified through the YMCA Rookie Coaches Course. If you are interested in volunteering please call Rose in the Youth Sports Dept, 281-367-9622.
To register please stop by any YMCA located in The Woodlands: 6145 Shadowbend Place, 8100 Ashlane Way and 6464 Creekside Forest Dr. On line registration is available at www.ymcahouston.org/south-montgomery-county. The YMCA is available to all and strives to turn no one away because of inability to pay. Limited Financial Assistance is available to families that substantiate a need. For more information please call 281-367-9622.
